March 27 - December 31, 2026

Ara Pacis Museum Starting Friday, March 27, Romans and tourists can enjoy a fascinating immersive multimedia experience to discover one of the city's iconic monuments.

The Ara Reveals Itself is a multimedia project designed to offer an immersive visit to the famous Augustan monument, whose original polychrome work comes to life again thanks to the highly immersive and realistic effect of video mapping, accompanied by a moving narration, music, and soundscapes. In particular, visitors can admire: the western front, with the panels of Aeneas sacrificing to the Penates and the Lupercal; the eastern front, with the panels of Tellus and the Goddess Roma; the two large lateral processions. The narration guides visitors through the discovery not only of the monument's ancient history, but also of its stories of oblivion and rediscovery.

Exhibition Villas and Gardens of Rome

With over 190 works, including paintings, views, drawings, and manuscripts, the guided tour of the exhibition "Villas and Gardens of Rome: A Crown of Delights" at the Museum of Rome recounts the evolution of historic villas and their gardens from the Renaissance to the 20th century.

Arranged into six chronological sections, the exhibition explores Renaissance models, Baroque splendor, 18th-century formal gardens, and English landscapes, culminating in the urban transformation of Rome as the capital and the birth of public gardens. Works by artists such as Van Wittel, Eckersberg, and Spadini restore the original appearance of spaces now lost or transformed, while multimedia displays explore architecture and social life. The guided tour offers a fascinating journey through art, nature, and history, celebrating villas and gardens as symbols of power, culture, and pleasure in Rome over the centuries.

Views Beyond Time

The Galleria Borghese presents "Views Beyond Time," a special project that opens the museum during special hours and offers the public an immersive visit experience designed to renew their perspective on the works, spaces, and history of one of the most emblematic sites of Italy's cultural heritage. Through the use of cutting-edge technology, "Views Beyond Time" takes visitors on a journey that intertwines art, history, and innovation, offering the opportunity to observe the evolution of the Galleria Borghese over the centuries.

Thanks to augmented reality, the museum reveals its various historical layers, recreating atmospheres, colors, and displays now lost, and making visible the transformation of the spaces and collections over time. The journey also allows visitors to virtually revisit works that were once part of the Gallery's collection, broadening the historical understanding of the museum and its history. Among these, the famous Gladiator, now preserved at the Louvre, is digitally reinserted into its original context, allowing us to understand its role within the historical exhibition and the value it had in building the identity of the Borghese collection.
